Matt Talbot Group 60

Matt Talbot Group 60 is a fellowship of recovering alcoholics from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania who recognize our need for help from a Power greater than ourselves.

We meet twice a year—January and July—at the San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey, where the ocean setting offers space for reflection, healing, and community.

Our Purpose

We come together to step away from the attitudes that once defined our lives—resentment, intolerance, anxiety, and self-pity—and to seek spiritual growth through the Matt Talbot retreat experience.

What We Do

  • We use the retreat weekend to explore and apply the spiritual principles reflected in the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, though we are not affiliated with AA or any other 12-step organization.
  • Our retreats have helped us find deeper serenity, gratitude, and purpose in daily living.
  • We look to Matt Talbot as an example of someone who went to any length to seek freedom from alcoholism and lived principles similar to those found in the Twelve Steps.

Our Spiritual Approach

While the Roman Catholic Church continues the process of considering Matt Talbot for sainthood, we are not affiliated with the Catholic Church. Our retreats are non-denominational, and any recovering alcoholic is welcome.

Our Commitment

Our primary purpose is to offer a quiet, restorative weekend of experience, strength, and hope, helping each of us renew our attitude and continue growing in recovery.
